I devote all of my photography time to on location photo sessions. Sometimes I shoot at a location central to my clients and me or sometimes I go to their home. I’ll tell you that there are few greater luxuries for the parent of youngsters than to only have a few feet to walk and worry about them getting dirty when they are all dressed up!
I used to have an awesome studio with grecian textured walls in the offices, waiting areas, kids playrooms and then in the actual studio: 1000 sqft of space with overhead tracks for lighting and backdrops and as soon as I got it just the way I wanted it, I realized that I don’t like sitting still in an office or seeing my backdrops and props everyday. Unfortunately I had signed a year lease.
I tried to like it and don’t get me wrong there are some benefits (if you ask my husband and his friends it was the stocked beer and wine fridge) but I am so much happier now, and I am offering something special to my clients that they really want and appreciate, I hear it all the time. There will always be a place for photo studios but that place isn’t for me.

There is no better feeling than a family saying “This is nothing like I imagined or experienced in a previous photo shoot, we had so much fun!” Even better: “My husband even enjoyed it!” And ladies, this is how to get your man to tag along and take more pictures, more often - even if I don’t supply a stocked beer fridge anymore!
